Early in January 2024, our team at Vandersall Collective engaged in conversations around the upcoming presidential election. Initially, each of us noted our discomfort with talking about what might happen in November. Naming our feelings helped us to begin naming what we learned from previous election experiences and ways we could begin to prepare for what was ahead.

As we identified potential plans, our individual and collective values emerged. It became clear what we held in common and the ways we, in our work, want to show up for others. Through this experience, one of us noted the ways this was happening in her faith community. We collectively wondered how we could serve the people and ministries we love by creating a resource to help others have these important conversations.

This prompted us to create a curriculum that you can purchase and download here to adapt for Christian faith communities of many sizes and orientations. Our greatest hope is that this is helpful in organizing a structure to care for your communities and also for communities of people most significantly affected by an election–no matter the outcome.

In fact, this guide hasn’t been written in anticipation of one outcome or another. Regardless of the outcome of the election, the months leading up to it and the months following it will be a tense time that will affect all of our communities.

What now?

Download, read through it, and dive in.

To support your digital download purchase, you can also add on 1 hour or 8 weeks of coaching. Once you purchase, we’ll be in touch to set up time together.

If you’re interested in a process for your community to define Core Values, we’d love to help. Email us for a conversation about pricing.

This PDF is intended to serve a single faith community. If you’re purchasing for multiple communities, please adjust the quantity in your cart.

For orders of 20 or more, we offer the curriculum for a flat fee of $1250, you can buy it here.

For an individual companion journal, you can buy it here.

Working with Vandersall Collective made such a difference as our church sought to define our long-range vision based on who we are and who God is calling us to be. The consultants were able to help us understand what the data meant that we had already collected over several years, and to construct a parish-wide survey and focus groups to dive deeper into main themes that had emerged.

Our parish leadership, even those who at first thought we did not need consultants, had deep gratitude for the work Vandersall did. We came away with a clear sense of who we are as a parish, our gifts, as well as areas where we could adjust our messaging and understanding in order to move in a healthier direction.

Vandersall Collective did excellent work. They listened with insight and compassion, and helped us to learn. They were professional, friendly, and deeply spiritual. We got so much more out of this process than we expected.

Reach people

Identity

It’s the way people know who you are and what you’re about. A strong, clear, consistent identity means people recognize you whether you show up in their inbox, their mailbox or on the street.

Communications

Say what you want to say, when and how you want to say it and reach the people who need to hear what you’re saying.

Raise $$$

Capital campaigns

These are big moments in the life of your organization. Make the difference you want to make by knowing what’s feasible, what inspires people about your plans, and when and how you’ll have the best opportunities to achieve your goals.

Annual campaigns

These are the bread and butter for your organization. It’s easy to let them get stale. Infuse every year with a combination of your reliable message and a creative spark that reminds people why its important to keep things moving forward.

Money narratives

We all have a story about money. That story drives every decision we make and every opinion we have about money. Learn what’s underneath your donor’s decision about how much to give, to whom, and when so you can become part of their story.

Strategy + vision

Having a clear sense of where you’re heading and what you want to accomplish over time, alongside a clear understanding of your culture and values, can help you make day-to-day decisions in a way that moves you forward authentically toward the organization you’re becoming.
